Man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after early morning hit-and-run: TPS

Toronto police say a man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries and one person is in custody after a hit-and-run early Sunday morning downtown.

Police say it happened in the Church Street and Wellesley Street East area around 12:10 a.m.

Investigators say a driver struck a pedestrian in their 30s and reportedly dragged him under the vehicle, before leaving the scene.

Police say the man was trapped under the vehicle and fire crews got him out. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he remains.

Officers say both the vehicle and suspect driver have been found. There’s no word on charges yet at this time.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is being asked to contact police.
